These Are the Best Looks From the Oscars Red Carpet

The biggest red carpet of the year!

By: Emily Ramshaw

The Oscars red carpet! The Oscars red carpet! You guys know by this point how we feel about these things. Excited, anxious, wondering if someone will wear something on the level of Björk’s swan dress (fingers crossed!). What we do know is that the stars (and the stylists, hairstylists and makeup artists who have been working around the clock all weekend) pull out all the stops. Click through the slideshow to see all red carpet winners.

BEST PRIMARY COLOR PLAY: RUTH NEGGA IN VALENTINO

Red Valentino and a blue ACLU ribbon—color blocking we can get behind.

MOST LIKELY TO *CLEAN UP* THE RED CARPET: SOFIA BOUTELLA IN CHANEL

Apologies for the terrible pun, but when you wear an admittedly killer gown trimmed with the kind of feathers last seen on a duster, you kind of asked for it.

BEST GWYNETH TRIBUTE: KARLIE KLOSS IN STELLA MCCARTNEY

When we see Karlie in this minimalist white gown, all we can think of is Gwyneth Paltrow wearing that Tom Ford stunner circa Oscars 2012. And that’s a good thing.

BEST OLD HOLLYWOOD GLAMOR: TARAJI P. HENSON IN ALBERTA FERRETTI

This is an excellent cap to Taraji’s offing amazing red carpet season. That necklace; that neckline; that hair; that slit! Taraji for president!

BEST PROM DRESS: KIRSTEN DUNST

Usually the prom comparison is not a good thing. In this case, we wish we wore something as goofy and fabulous (also as sophisticated, because black) as Kirsten Dunst’s gown.

MOST LIKELY TO INSPIRE LION MEMES: JESSICA BIEL IN KAUFMAN FRANCO AND TIFFANY & CO

God damn, Jessica Biel’s Tiffany collar is glorious.

BEST CASE FOR MAN JEWELRY: PHARRELL WILLIAMS

Pharrell is taking his Chanel spokesmanship seriously. But with a tux these necklaces actually work.

BEST COUTURE MOMENT: JANELLE MONAE IN ELIE SAAB COUTURE

Okay, we love a gown because you know that a million hands took a million hours to make a masterpiece as jaw-dropping as this.

MOST LIKELY TO MAKE HER STYLIST RICH & FAMOUS: MICHELLE WILLIAMS IN LOUIS VUITTON

Kate Young kills is all the time—no matter what she does or who she styles—but Michelle, with her crazy chic hair and ability to seemingly wear ANYTHING, is a dream client.

MOST LIKELY TO INSPIRE A NEW DANCING WOMAN EMOJI: ALICIA VIKANDER IN LOUIS VUITTON

This is like the red flamenco emoji dress by black and couture.

BEST ARM CANDY: BUSY PHILLIPPS IN ELIZABETH KENNEDY

Busy Phillipps and Michelle Williams are quite possibly the best couple in red carpet history. They’re most definitely the best dressed.
